Safety is always number one. If the pilot does not believe the weather is right, the flight will be canceled — no exceptions. There’s a saying in ballooning: “We would rather be on the ground wishing we were up than up wishing we were on the ground.” The weather service is contacted the night before each flight — the same aviation weather service used by airlines. If there is anything concerning — high winds, thunderstorms, approaching fronts, low pressure systems, or turbulence — the flight will be canceled. Safety at all times.

If winds are greater than 8 MPH, we cannot fly. If conditions are questionable, we do not fly.

Balloons can only fly within two hours after sunrise and two hours before sunset. Morning flights have a much higher success rate. Afternoon flights are often canceled due to increased winds. Morning is your best choice.
